About
Hello,
Welcome to Radishes and Rhubarb, a foodblog devoted to all things local, seasonal and homemade. I'm Allison and I live in Hamilton, Ontario. I am a writer, mother, home cook and food enthusiast. I started writing Radishes and Rhubarb as a way to share my passion for cooking, baking and good food. I believe strongly that food matters; fresh food, real food, food that brings family together.
Whenever I think of food and what inspires me I inevitably go back to my childhood and my experiences in my Grandfather’s bakery and my Grandparent's house. This is where the passion began and you will probably hear me mention Dooher’s Bakery many times. It has been around for over 50 years (it is now owned and operated by my uncle), so it has been a constant in my life and an unending source of inspiration. I talked quite a bit about this connection in my first post and I explained the reason for the picture of my daughter's hand, so please follow the link if you want to find out more.
My goal is to make the recipes here accessible and to inspire people to discover their own passion for food and cooking. I welcome comments and I am willing to help. I do not do product reviews and I am not paid to endorse any of the cookbooks, resources or products that I mention, they are just personal favourites. However, I am a member of Amazon Associates which means that if you decide to purchase something through the link to Amazon I may receive a small percent from the purchase.
I currently offer private cooking lessons and I work as a recipe developer, food stylist, photographer and food writer. If you wish to get in contact with me I can be reached at [email protected].
Allison
